Monday Mix #1

In the shower the other day I had the great idea of a new weekly feature called the ‘Monday Mix’ where I’d post a few songs and a couple of mixes every week for your listening pleasure. It turns out another snowboarding publication does a monday mix, but they post up shit like Micheal Buble (seriously Joe Sexton, WTF is wrong with you?!) and I’m not going to let that stop me sharing some music with you.

If you have any recomendations or if you happen to be DJ and want to have your mix featured here, post a link in the forum and if we like it we’ll post it up here in the Monday Mix.

Anyway, Monday is the worst day of the week so here’s a couple of tunes and a mix that just might get you through a tedious afternoons work looking at spreadsheets or whatever it is that you’re doing this afternoon. Enjoy.

Future Islands – Balance

First up, it’s a bit of synthy indie sounds form Future Islands. This song featured on a Scott Stevens section from Hungry? and it’s a good tune to shred around to.

Jai Paul – BTSTU

When I go snowboarding my mate Simon plays this song all the time; when he’s driving to the mountains, when he wakes up, when he puts his boots on, when he eats his breakfast, when he showers, when he rides, when he’s pre drinking, when he brings a girl back to the apartment for some heavy petting etcetera, etcetera, etcetera… Luckily, I like this song (and it covers up the Simon’s sex noises).

Slite – Proud Mix

Finally an actual mix (on a monday, hence Monday Mix, geddit?!). My pal Tim Harper aka Slite is a skier and a DJ who used to play dubstep and dnb, with his Proud mix he’s playing around with deep house (which is good because I like deep house) and this little mix is available to download free. I don’t know why it’s called the proud mix but It’s probably something to do with how Usain Bolt’s mum feels when he runs really quick. In fact I bet she’s listening to this right now.
